Well, gosh! I’m sitting here getting ready to recommend Akcent as the thang to do this weekend, so I shot on over to their Wikipedia page to just get a few ideas on where to start. I scroll down a few sections and I see C89.5 (KNHC) mentioned on their chart achievements! Wow! Now I really need to recommend this! Hahah!
Akcent is playing this Saturday at Aston Manor in SoDo. I’ve never been to Aston Manor, but my co-worked says it has a swanky European vibe to it, which might make a good match for Akcent.
Akcent’s first big breakthrough on C89.5 was the track “Kylie” in 2005 (which the aformentioned Wikipedia article says is an ode to Kylie Minogue). We’ve been hearing them throughout the years, particularly with the unexpected hit “My Passion” earlier this decade.
I get the feeling that they’ll be cracking the mic, which I love with live dance music.
Make note that this is an early show– it’s over by 10 PM, so plan for it. The Facebook event page reads “Dress to Impress” and “21+”.
