KNHC Radio Contest Rules

Effective 21 April 2022

How to enter and participate.

  • No purchase or donation is necessary.
  • Contestants can enter or participate by following the instructions announced on air.
  • Participants should not rely on streamed broadcasts in order to participate. Listen to KNHC (FM) 89.5 MHz for the times to play and how to enter or participate in a specific contest. Online listeners to streamed broadcasts may experience a lag in transmissions due to technical limitations.
  • Eligibility restrictions.
    • One entry per person.
    • One winner per household.
    • Employees, volunteers and students of KNHC, the Contest’s participating sponsors and their advertising agencies, employees of other radio or television stations, and members of the immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to participate and win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws” or by current or past marriage(s), remarriage(s), adoption, co-habitation or other family extension, and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related.
    • Void where prohibited by law.
    • Listeners may only win once every thirty (30) days.
    • Other limitations will be announced on air.
  • Entry deadline dates.
    • Individual giveaways are announced periodically preceding the giveaway.
  • Prizes can be won
    • If a prize is available to be won, it will be announced on air.
  • When prizes can be won.
    • Prizes can be won when announced on air.
  • The extent, nature and value of the prizes.
    • Extent and nature of prizes vary widely depending on the exact nature of the giveaway and will be announced on air preceding the giveaway.
    • The value of the prize is the fair market value. Fair market value is the price that property would sell for on the open market. It is the price that would be agreed on between a willing buyer and a willing seller, with neither being required to act, and both having reasonable knowledge of the relevant facts.
  • Basis for valuation of prizes.
  • Time and means of selection of winners.
    • Time and means of selecting a winner are announced on-air during the individual contest.
  • Tie-breaking procedures.
    • If it is necessary to break a tie, the station management shall determine the winner.
  • Other
    • No cash equivalent will be made for a prize.
    • KNHC Radio reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the awarded prize is unavailable for any reason
    • If tickets are not received within five (5) business days of the event, the winner is responsible for contacting KNHC Radio by sending email to lauren@c895.org or by calling 206-252-3800 between the hours of 9AM and 5PM Monday through Friday.
    • If tickets to a performance or event are awarded as a prize, KNHC Radio is not responsible for any cancellation or rescheduling of the performance for any reason and has no obligation to reimburse, refund or otherwise substitute the tickets for another prize should the performance not be rescheduled or vouchers not issued. Furthermore, KNHC Radio is not responsible for cancellations or delays in travel accommodations and has no obligation to reimburse, refund or otherwise substitute any tickets awarded as a part of a travel prize due to such cancellations or delays.
    • Void in any location where prohibited or restricted by law.
    • Standard text messaging, data and voice rates may apply. Please consult your telecommunications provider. KNHC will assume no responsibility for any fees or charges incurred.
    • These rules apply to all KNHC contests unless modified or superseded by rules written for a specific contest.
    • A contest entrant must be prepared to identify the prize they are trying to win.
    • KNHC Radio reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the contest
    • The decision of the KNHC Radio is final
    • KNHC Radio and sponsors are not responsible for the inability of the entrant to complete the entry whether due to telephone equipment malfunctions; disconnections; busy lines; faulty, mistranscribed, misdirected, or misdialed telephone communications; or other circumstances. Only entries directed to the designated telecommunications destination (i.e., a phone call or text message) will be eligible to win.
    • Prizes are non-exchangeable.
    • Prizes are generally not transferrable to another person due to limitations and deadlines required for the fulfillment of prizes.
    • Any winner of a prize with a fair market value of $600 USD or more must provide KNHC with their taxpayer identification number using the appropriate form (currently Form W-9 for a U.S. person including a resident alien).
    • Winners must comply with any applicable federal, state and local laws.
    • All contestants give KNHC the right to use their name(s), voice(s) and/or any other likeness for promotional purposes.
    • By entering any contest, all participants give KNHC Radio permission to communicate via phone, email, text messaging, or other means, regarding the contest or other matters.
