I recommend: “Geisha of a Different Kind” on Cap Hill

Aleksa Manila and Gaysha Starr share experiences of LGBTQ Asian-Americans.

If you’ve ever been out to the clubs up on Capitol Hill, you’ve most certainly partied with Aleksa Manila and Gaysha Starr. It really warms my heart to see them busy at work outside of the club making the world a better place to live.

The Seattle Public Library will host C. Winter Han reading from “Geisha of a Different Kind: Race and Sexuality in Gaysian America” followed by a panel on the experiences of LGBTQ Asian-Americans from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 at the Capitol Hill Branch (425 Harvard Ave. East).

The panel will be moderated by Aleksa Manila, founder of Pride Asia. Panelists will include Nhan Thai, Gaysha Starr and Tanya Rachinee.

Library events are free and everyone is welcome. Registration is not required and is presented in partnership with Pride Asia.
