I Recommend: Electro Swing at Re-Bar

Friday: Swing and jazz mixed with dance music and deejay culture.

Fun things are going on around town the week post-Bumbershoot:  Krewella is at the Crocodile and Cedric Gervais will be at Foundation. One thing that grabs my interest is “Sonic Boom!” at Re-Bar, presented by Speakeasy Electro Swing Seattle, featuring DJ’s Jonny Sonic, Stormcleod and Everfree.

I would expect vintage / modern swing and jazz mixed with dance music and deejay culture. Their Facebook event page reads “As our economy revisits the depression era, it is time for our culture to revel in the glory of those days. It is time to get snazzed up, and get down to the sounds of Electro Swing that have been taking over the UK and the rest of Europe in the last few years”.

If you’re wondering what Electro Swing is about, you’ve probably already heard it on C89.5. It’s artists like Caravan Palace (“Lone Digger“), AronChupa/Nora (“I’m an Albatroz“) and, most recently, Yolanda Be Cool/Sean Paul/Mayra Veronica (“Outta Control“). I’ve been a pretty big fan of this sound, and I’m glad that there’s a night in town dedicated to it.

Richard J Dalton hasn't been cool since that time Kate Bush had a comeback.

Let me steal this moment from you now.
